Seeking reassurance about insurance

Q. In June 1996, at the time of my divorce, I had a federal health insurance policy that covered me, my kids and my wife. I was then earning about $60,000. Neither I nor my wife had a lawyer. The court ordered me to “keep that policy in force.” I did that all these years.

But in February 2009 the insurance company said it didn’t allow an ex-wife to be on the plan no matter what the state court ordered. And it demanded my ex-wife repay the last five years (the maximum it can claim) for all services and prescriptions she was provided.
