Kira Wahlstrom is that very, very rare survivor of sexual assault. She is not hiding.

If there were more survivors like her, the stigma attached to sex crimes would be gone, or at least on its way there.

Wow, Margery. We are on a roll. 2/2 here. Are we sure someone else isn't ghostwriting your columns? If not, Holy Cow. Never, I mean never should society put up with this. How about dropping the cameras on ordinary citizens in Newburyport and put up cameras on these stairwells in and around parking garages in Boston? Oh, I guess that would mean nailing and prosecuting actual criminals in this state vs. watching some teenage girl's upskirt activities.

Marge, I often wonder where you get your ideas for columns from. The related articles that the Herald puts along side seem to mirror what you write. This column says that we should not protect the names of victims. I think we should. But the comment above says it better by saying put the cameras up everywhere that a crime could be committed.

always nice to check into the comments section of M's columns to keep track of the world's biggest jerks. As usual, not an ounce of humanity directed toward the rape victim, just idiotic vitriol aimed at Eagan. Nice column, Margery. I have long advocated the idea you recommend.

Margery: Well done, as always. It took great courage for this rape victim to come forward. Hopefully other victims will be helped and find strength to deal with the trauma because of her efforts. My thoughts and prayers go out to all rape victims.

Tut tut Magpie.Single digit responses to one of your "columns"? Pat P. etc cannot be happy about this. There will be writers to be had on the cheap soon, Magpie. Better generate some traffic on the message board quickly or you'll be down to one job you aren't good at instead of two

Strange that you would choose this column, Margie. You were one of the first to jump all over Kerry Healey when she came out with the "parking garage ad". You claimed it was scare tactics and stranger rape almost never happens, but then you choose to parade this survivor around in your column. It says in another article that victims of sexual assault are often refereed to as "Jane Doe" and their identity is fiercely protected, but where was the Jane Doe agency on this issue during the campaign, they were standing right next to Deval Patrick where they continue to stand to this day. Maybe the survivor should also add them to the lawsuit. They claim to be out for victims, but they testify on behalf of sealing records for criminals (yes even sex offenders, both juvenile and adult), sounds more like they are interested in supporting the governor than rape victims. Thank you to the survivor who bravely shared her story.

A ‘KNOWN DANGER’: The garage where Kira Wahlstrom was raped in May ’09, and where another woman was assaulted April 19, has since implemented safety changes including bright lights and emergency call boxes at stairwells.
