NEW YORK - Federal prosecutors have busted what they say is a mob extortion and bribery operation at Ground Zero.
An indictment unsealed yesterday in Brooklyn alleges that a mob-controlled trucking company paid kickbacks to win a subcontract with a demolition company working at the former World Trade Center site. Prosecutors also say the eight defendants, linked to the Colombo organized crime family, have been charged with threatening employees.
