Gruesome details emerge in fatal wrong-way Pike crash

Authorities have released gruesome details of yesterday’s wrong-way, head-on crash on the Mass Pike that crushed one man to death and took the eye of another, who’s clinging to life.

Rene Bronfield, 49, of Worcester, lost an eye and suffered massive head trauma when his red 1978 MG Midget was hit by a black 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by an allegedly besotted Philip Daniels, 33, of Norwood just prior to the Prudential tunnel at 1:49 a.m.
